Jake Schreier, the director of the upcoming Thunderbolts* movie, has revealed that a powerful character will have a connection to Avengers: Doomsday.
According to Schreier, Thunderbolts* isn’t just a side story — it ties directly into the events leading up to Avengers: Doomsday. He mentioned that “stones or pebbles” could hint at power sources (possibly even on the Infinity Stone level) or serve as metaphorical setups — small things with a big impact.

Schreier says the character being teased is already known — someone with serious power. Is he hinting at Lewis Pullman’s character, Sentry? Because by the end of Thunderbolts*, he may unleash The Void. Schreier confirms that this character’s power could “have an impact going forward,” signaling a major influence on future MCU storylines.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Schreier said, “There might be some stones, or pebbles [smiles]. I don’t know how you want to rate your rocks. Look, you know the character that we’re talking about, and you know that there’s a level of power involved there that could have an impact going forward. I’m not making Doomsday so I’m not privy to that.”

During an interview, Marvel President Kevin Feige said that the Thunderbolts* will be one of the main focuses in Avengers: Doomsday. Also, during CinemaCon 2025, Feige confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday will focus on the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and the original X-Men all fighting Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday production is currently taking place in the United Kingdom. The film will mark the beginning of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As the multiverse nears total collapse, the Avengers must assemble to face their biggest challenge yet — incursions, catastrophic collisions between realities that could destroy the entire multiverse. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must race against time to save their reality while confronting the powerful figure behind it all — Victor Von Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with a screenplay by their collaborator Stephen McFeely.
The film stars Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost. Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing), and Lewis Pullman as Sentry.
Thunderbolts* will be in theaters on May 2, 2025, and Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
