The Batman: Part II has officially entered pre-production following the completion of the script. The hiring process has begun for production design, art direction, stunt coordination, costume, makeup, grip, lighting, camera, VFX, and post-production planning.

According to Production List, The Batman: Part II is confirmed to begin filming on January 1, 2026, at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London, UK. The film is now in pre-production in London.

“Production leads are organizing departments and hiring for production design, art direction, stunt coordination, costume, makeup, grip, lighting, camera, VFX, and post-production planning. Leavesden offers access to high-end soundstages and set-building facilities—ideal for Gotham’s gritty transformation and sweeping practical environments.”

“For industry professionals—from set designers and scenic carpenters to stunt teams and VFX coordinators—The Batman Part II offers high-profile work on a production defined by scale, mood, and noir aesthetics. Casting calls and crew notices are expected to begin in fall 2025, with supporting character and background roles likely posted by early 2026.”

The Batman: Part II follows Gotham’s slow recovery from the devastating flood caused by the Riddler in the previous film, tackling themes of societal division, power dynamics, and moral ambiguity. Reeves has described Batman’s new journey as one that operates in a more complex and “greyer” world—raising the stakes for character-driven tension and visual storytelling.

In an interview with SFX Magazine, Reeves said that The Batman: Part II will introduce a new mystery that explores corruption even further. He added that the story builds upon the first film.

Reeves said, “It’s another mystery that’s going to dig into the epic story of deeper corruption, and it goes into places that he couldn’t even anticipate in the first one. The seeds of where this goes are all in the first movie.”

The film is not part of the DC universe being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, though they are overseeing the project.

The Batman: Part II will hit theaters on October 1, 2027, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
