There will be no more “Dunesday,” as Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday could be released one week earlier to avoid competing with Dune: Part Three.
According to John Campea, Marvel Studios is reportedly in discussions to move Avengers: Doomsday to December 11, as the studio is looking to secure a weekend of IMAX screens ahead of Dune: Part Three.
Avengers: Doomsday is Marvel’s most expensive movie ever. Its budget is said to be higher than Avengers: Endgame ($356M), which could make it one of the most expensive movies ever made.

It was previously reported that Avengers: Doomsday would not have an IMAX release. Instead, the studio plans to focus on other premium formats, including Dolby, D-Box, 4DX, and AMC’s new “XL” format designed for larger screens.
Jumanji moved from December 11 to December 25 to avoid competing with Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three. While it may earn less at the start, it could do better overall since Christmas is a big movie day.
Dune: Part Three has exclusive IMAX screens for three weeks, so Avengers: Doomsday currently has none. However, there are talks that Doomsday could move one week earlier to get IMAX screens before Dune 3. Nothing is confirmed yet, but discussions are ongoing.
Following both films releasing on the same day, fans are calling it “Dunesday,” inspired by the Barbenheimer trend, with many planning to watch Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three back-to-back.
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron.
