The first look at Nicholas Hoult‘s Lex Luthor from the set of James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow has been revealed.
On X, Gunn shared the first look at Lex Luthor’s new iconic warsuit and wrote, “Fit check. Live from the set of Man of Tomorrow.” The image shows Lex in a glowing green high-tech armored warsuit under studio lighting. See the image below.

On Threads, Gunn says Lex Luthor’s warsuit in Man of Tomorrow is 100% practical, adding that Nicholas Hoult can move incredibly well in it.
The chest piece of Lex’s warsuit features the A.R.G.U.S. symbol. A.R.G.U.S. is a DC Comics government agency focused on metahumans and is led by Amanda Waller.
In DC Comics, Lex Luthor is known for creating powerful armored warsuits that allow him to stand toe-to-toe with Superman. These suits grant him abilities such as super strength, flight, energy weapons, and force fields. Based on the new photo, it appears Lex may escape prison and eventually travel to a desert-like planet in space.
Man of Tomorrow is currently filming in Atlanta. Gunn is writing, directing, and producing the film, with Peter Safran serving as a producer for DC Studios. The movie is a sequel to Superman, follows Peacemaker Season 2, and will be the fourth DC Universe film in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
A set image from the production area reveals a map of Metropolis. See it below.

The cast of Man of Tomorrow includes David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent (Kal-El), Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Aaron Pierre as Green Lantern (John Stewart), and Adria Arjona in a rumored role as either Maxima or Wonder Woman.
Gunn says Man of Tomorrow will focus heavily on the relationship between Superman and Lex Luthor.
“It’s a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat,” Gunn teased about Man of Tomorrow.
“At its core, it’s about Clark and Lex. I relate to both of them. I relate to Lex’s ambition and obsession — minus the murder. And I relate to Superman’s belief in people, his Midwestern values. They’re two sides of me.
Man of Tomorrow will arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027.
