Marvel Studios and Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now shattering records, with the film’s box office exceeding expectations during its opening weekend.
According to Variety, Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened with a $355 million domestic opening weekend, making it the second-biggest domestic opening in box office history, trailing only Avengers: Endgame ($357 million).
Marvel Studios and Sony have achieved another historic box office milestone with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. After grossing $573 million overseas, the film finished its opening weekend with a remarkable $927 million worldwide, making it the second-largest global debut ever behind Avengers: Endgame. The blockbuster was made on a reported $225 million budget.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has earned $23 million from IMAX screenings. The film is currently playing in IMAX only in China, Japan, and South Korea.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said, “This is a truly phenomenal opening, and we are grateful to audiences everywhere for coming out and experiencing our film the way it was meant to be seen.” He added, “This debut reflects the enduring power of Marvel’s characters, and the connection they continue to have with fans around the world — and, as audiences saw, it sets up exciting things to come.”
While Spider-Man: Brand New Day dominated theaters, The Odyssey continued its good run with $51 million in its third weekend. Together, the two films helped deliver the biggest weekend in box office history, with more than $425 million earned across all movies, surpassing the previous record set during Avengers: Endgame‘s opening weekend.

Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink as Jean Grey alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone.
