‘Naruto’ Live-Action Movie Adapts Land of Waves Arc With Major Character Changes
Recently, scooper Daniel Richtman revealed major Naruto plot spoilers on his Patreon. Here’s what he reported:
The first movie will be an adaptation of the first story arc, with “Naruto: Mission to the Land of Waves” being considered as the title.
The characters will be 12–13 years old, just like in the original.
The movie will remain very faithful to the source material, although there will be some changes.
Sakura will be a much stronger character and will already have her abilities from the beginning.
Naruto will have a strong interest in ninja history.
Naruto will not be in love with Sakura, while Sasuke will have feelings for her.
Sakura will come from a wealthy family. Her father died during Kurama’s attack, while her mother is described as a wealthy, snobbish character.
The movie will introduce a major change to the concept of Jinchuriki, with the ability to host a Tailed Beast being determined by bloodline.
Only people from certain bloodlines can have a Tailed Beast sealed inside them.
This new concept explains why Kurama was sealed inside Naruto when he was a baby.
Naruto inherited the necessary bloodline from his mother. As she was dying, Kurama had to be sealed inside someone, and Naruto was the only viable host because of his special bloodline.
Cretton is a great director, the Naruto movie is in good hands, Sasuke and Sakura’s feelings are not too strong, the Jinchuriki idea has some roots in the manga, Sakura will have a stronger role and more backstory, Naruto is interested in history but is still bad at school, and despite these changes, the movie is very faithful to the manga.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charles Melton, who recently earned an Emmy nomination for Netflix’s Beef, is in final negotiations to play Kakashi Hatake in Lionsgate’s live-action Naruto movie. Meanwhile, casting is underway for the actor who will play Naruto.
The film is being produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Emmy Yu, and Jeremy Latcham for Arad Productions, alongside Cretton and Jeyun Munford through Hisako.
After the $2 billion global success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Cretton is reportedly moving on to Naruto. The live-action adaptation is currently targeting a production start around February 2027 in the United Kingdom.
The live-action Naruto movie’s release date is TBA.
