Marvel fans who expected a brand-new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday at the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026 did not get one. Instead, the recently released post-credits scene from Avengers: Endgame Encore was shown to attendees at the panel.
During the Avengers: Doomsday panel, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, and David Harbour appeared on stage and spoke about the upcoming film.
Mackie teased what fans can expect from Avengers: Doomsday, hinting at the overwhelming presence of Doctor Doom throughout the film.
Mackie said, “I think the big thing is the amount of Doom you’re going to see. It’s like every corner we turn, every time somebody speaks, it’s like, ‘Yo, there’s a lot of Doom outside.’”
Mackie also praised directors Anthony and Joe Russo for giving every character their moment in Avengers: Doomsday.
“The Russo Brothers were great at giving every character and every person their moment. Every time I went to watch Endgame, every single character was given that moment for the audience to connect with them and breathe. And I think it’s the same with this movie,” Mackie said.
Anthony Mackie Reveals What It’s Like Working With Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Mackie opened up about working with Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan on Avengers: Doomsday.
He described their time together as a “powwow,” saying the three actors would hang out, laugh, joke, and talk about what was happening during production.
Mackie said, “Whenever Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan and I get together… It’s like a powwow, like, we’re boys in the corner hanging out, laughing, joking and talking about what’s happening. Then we stop, and Sebastian looks at both of us and goes, ‘So, which one of us is gonna die?’”
Harbour said that when he first saw the trailer featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, he immediately thought of Iron Man. He added that he is still processing the major MCU shift of seeing Downey Jr. move from Tony Stark to Doom, a transition that Avengers: Doomsday is expected to address following the post-credits connection established in Avengers: Endgame Encore. Unlike his earlier comments, Harbour did not reveal any scripted dialogue this time.
In an August 2026 Variety interview, he had recited the out-of-context line, “You… are Tony Stark,” in his Red Guardian Russian accent, fueling speculation about a potential unmasking scene, but his comments in Málaga remained more general.
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron.
