The VOD release date for Zach Cregger‘s Resident Evil, starring Austin Abrams, has been revealed.
The film will be available to buy or rent on digital HD platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Vudu, and Google Play Movies starting November 3, 2026.
The film has a 96% critic score and a 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, a 7.6/10 rating on IMDb, and a B+ CinemaScore from audiences. With a budget of $75 million, the film has grossed over $280 million worldwide, making it Cregger’s highest-grossing film to date.

From the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian) comes a thrilling and terrifying reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise. In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unknowingly finds himself in an action-packed, nonstop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night descends into chaos.
Directed by Cregger, who co-wrote the screenplay with Shay Hatten, the film serves as the second reboot of the Resident Evil film series. It is the eighth installment overall in the franchise, which is based on the video game series by Capcom.
The cast of Resident Evil includes Austin Abrams as Bryan, a medical courier; Zach Cherry as Carl, an Umbrella scientist; Kali Reis as Maxine, an Umbrella enforcer; Paul Walter Hauser as Paul, Will Merrick as Dave, Zoé Bellas as Birdie, Chris Lew Kum Hoi as Stanley, and Griffin Newman as Wade, all of whom play Umbrella scientists. Andrea Miltnerová plays a pedestrian, Karel Dobrý plays a farmer, Jo Martin plays Andrea Vasquez, a receptionist, Emily Piggford plays Dr. Maria Stokes, and Johnno Wilson plays Wilson, an Arklay County sheriff.
The film is produced by Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions, in association with Constantin Film and Vertigo Entertainment.
Sony Pictures Releasing released Resident Evil in U.S. theaters on September 18, 2026.
