Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for Avengers: Doomsday.
In the post-credits scene shown during Avengers: Endgame Encore, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom appears to kidnap Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, who is held in an underground bunker. Doom says, “I have come to collect you.” Doom may want Hulk’s strength to help him fight the Avengers, raising questions about whether Banner could become part of his plan. The footage hints that Doom may be targeting people whose lives were changed by interference with the Multiverse, though his full motives remain unclear.
In a recent interview with Empire magazine, the Russo brothers discussed a few details about Avengers: Doomsday and hinted that Hulk could join Doom’s team to fight the Avengers.

The directors said, “Doom can be heard but not seen, apparently kidnapping Bruce Banner. ‘I have come to collect you,’ he says. It could be as muscle. Fighting the Avengers could be easier if he has a Hulk.”
And he’s a bitter and twisted version of Tony Stark, right?
Well, he’s played by Robert Downey Jr., that much we know, returning to the MCU to play its Biggest Bad after years of playing its Hugest Hero. But we’re going to have to wait until Doomsday to find out if there is a connection to Stark, and what exactly it is that Doom wants. But there are clues.
Russo Brothers Explain How Loki Could Be Connected to the Multiverse Crisis in Avengers: Doomsday
The extended scenes from Avengers: Endgame Encore reveal that Steve Rogers’ happy ending with Peggy Carter may be interrupted by a visit from Loki. Anthony Russo hints that Loki will have a new incarnation in Avengers: Doomsday. Loki has evolved from the God of Mischief into the God of Time, holding the multiverse together.
Another post-credits scene shows Loki’s allies at the Time Variance Authority facing the imminent collapse of the multiverse.
Joe Russo describes the multiverse crisis as “the most profound thing that’s ever happened to the MCU.” The film could explore whether Loki can leave his throne to warn others and help prevent the end of the multiverse.
Avengers: Doomsday Will Feature Two Avengers Teams, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men

Avengers: Doomsday will feature two Avengers teams: the official team led by the new Captain America, Sam Wilson, and the New Avengers, formerly known as the Thunderbolts. The Avengers will receive reinforcements from the Fantastic Four and a team of X-Men.
The X-Men consist of members from the original Fox X-Men movies. The Fantastic Four and the X-Men come from separate multiverses, while the main MCU takes place on Earth-616. These three universes are collapsing into one another, and only one may survive.
The Russo brothers said, “The Fantastic Four are from one multiverse, and the X-Men from another. And for some reason, those universes — and the main MCU universe of Earth-616 — are collapsing in on one another, and only one, it seems, can survive. Oh, and they also have to contend with Doctor Doom, a seemingly all-powerful villain from the Fantastic Four universe who has arrived on Earth-616 with a sinister and unknown agenda. But one thing is clear: he’s here to F things up.”
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron, Stephen McFeely, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers.
“Universes collide, and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Downey Jr., who led the Avengers series as Iron Man, makes a shocking return as the evil scientist Doctor Doom. Familiar heroes like Steve Rogers and Thor are joined by a new generation of heroes, hinting at the largest assembly in history.”
