‘The Flash’ Opens with $24.5 Million at the Domestic Box Office

‘The Flash‘ grossed an estimated $24.5 million at the domestic box office on Friday, including Thursday previews, with screenings held in 4,234 locations. The film’s earnings on Friday alone were in the range of $14–14.5 million. Based on early overseas reports, it appears that ‘The Flash’ is expected to have a weekend box office total closer to $70 million rather than $75 million. As for its worldwide opening, the film is projected to have an approximate total of $125 million.

‘The Flash’ Receives B Grade CinemaScore

‘The Flash’ has received a B grade CinemaScore from audiences, tying it with ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ for the lowest grade among the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) films, while ‘Wonder Woman’ holds an A, ‘Man of Steel’ an A-, and ‘Black Adam’ a B+ CinemaScore.

The Flash, directed by Andy Muschietti and written by Christina Hodson, the plot is based on the comic book storyline “Flashpoint,” and follows: Worlds collide when the Flash uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. However, when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, he becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation. With no other superheroes to turn to, the Flash looks to coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian—albeit not the one he’s looking for. Read our review.

The film stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, alongside Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton.
