Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms he will return as Conan in the new sequel King Conan, with Christopher McQuarrie set to write and direct the continuation of the classic fantasy franchise. "They did an additional Predator and the director (Dan Trachtenberg) has been doing a great job of that. Now, he wants me to be in the next Predator. We’ve talked about it. As a matter of fact, FOX studios has kind of rediscovered 'Arnold.' They’ve come to me and said, 'We want you to do Predator. We just got a script for you to do Commando 2’."

Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed that he will return as Conan in a new sequel titled King Conan, which is a continuation of the story from Conan the Barbarian (1982) and Conan the Destroyer (1984).

Schwarzenegger shared the news during the Arnold Sports Festival (via TheArnoldFans). Christopher McQuarrie, who is known for directing several films with Tom Cruise in the Mission: Impossible franchise, has been hired to write and direct the project. The sequel’s story will follow an older Conan fighting to regain control of his kingdom.

Schwarzenegger said, “FOX is moving forward with the next Conan movie.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms he will return as Conan in the new sequel King Conan, with Christopher McQuarrie set to write and direct the continuation of the classic fantasy franchise.

“They just hired a fantastic writer/director who did Tom Cruise’s last four movies,” Arnold added. “They just hired him (Christopher McQuarrie) to write and direct King Conan.”

Conan the Barbarian was released in 1982 and became a box office success, following the story of a warrior seeking revenge against the cult that killed his family. It was followed by the 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer, which received poor reviews, and later a 2011 reboot starring Jason Momoa that underperformed at the box office.

Schwarzenegger confirmed that he may return to several of his classic 1980s roles. Along with King Conan, he is also discussing other sequel projects.

He may return as Dutch in a new Predator film directed by Dan Trachtenberg, and the director reportedly wants Schwarzenegger to appear in the next movie. Schwarzenegger said they have already talked about the idea.

FOX Studios has also asked him to return for Commando 2, a sequel to the 1985 action film. Schwarzenegger said the studio has “rediscovered Arnold” and wants him back for these classic franchises.

He said, “They did another Predator, and the director (Dan Trachtenberg) has been doing a great job with it. Now he wants me to be in the next Predator. We’ve talked about it. As a matter of fact, FOX Studios has kind of rediscovered ‘Arnold.’ They’ve come to me and said, ‘We want you to do Predator. We also just got a script for you to do Commando 2.’”
