Marvel Studios will release a new special look at Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday during Game 1 of the MLB World Series today at 5 p.m. PT on FOX. As we’ve heard, it won’t be a trailer but an extended look at the direct continuation of the post-credits scene from The Fantastic Four: First Steps, featuring Ben Grimm, the Human Torch, and Steve Rogers attending a baseball game.
The Fantastic Four’s Instagram account has teased the special look at Avengers: Doomsday. The post reads, “Our heroes have stepped up to protect the planet, but nothing’s more daunting than stepping up to bat! A fantastic surprise is in store for those tuning in to America’s pastime tomorrow, brought to you by Frosty Treats in collaboration with the Future Foundation.”
Meanwhile, MLB host Kait Maniscalco has also confirmed on Instagram that the Avengers: Doomsday special look will air during the MLB World Series game.
Maniscalco said, “One of the most surreal experiences that I have ever had was actually getting to be on set during Avengers: Doomsday when they filmed an iconic baseball scene.”
Doctor Doom Warns the Fantastic Four About an Incursion
Here’s the leaked description of the upcoming extended footage from Avengers: Doomsday:
The scene features a baseball game on Earth-828 between Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm. They receive an invasion alert at the Baxter Building, where they encounter a mysterious figure, Victor Von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, speaking with Sue Storm and Franklin Richards.
Doom warns them that an incursion is coming, explaining that he has studied the Multiverse for years. He says that when the fabric between two realities tears apart, a magnetic attraction develops between the two universes, with Planet Earth serving as the central collision point. He also explains that their Earth somehow triggered an incursion and that only Reed Richards has the intellect to figure out how to stop it.
Victor is obsessed with incursions and knows everything about them. However, Sue is hesitant to trust him because she knows he is the dictator of Latveria, a country that is not particularly diplomatic.
Reed and Doom search for genetic anomalies on their Earth and discover three different energy sources. When they investigate, they find a long-haired, bearded Steve Rogers, along with Peggy and James. Steve has been living there for over a decade and is unaware of the Fantastic Four. They explain the situation to him, and Steve is moved by what he hears and agrees to help them find a solution.
Steve explains that he used the Infinity Stones to travel back in time, but the timeline he created was never supposed to exist. Loki, whom Steve already knew, relocated him to their universe. Loki belonged to an organization responsible for managing and controlling the timelines.
