Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame is returning to the big screen before Avengers: Doomsday. The studio recently announced that the Avengers: Endgame re-release will officially be titled Avengers: Endgame – Encore and will be released in theaters on September 25.
The Encore edition features a newly created introduction, previously unseen footage, and a special end tag exclusive to Infinity Vision and IMAX releases.
According to insider @Cryptic4KQual, Avengers: Endgame – Encore will feature a new intro, bonus scenes, and an end sequence that connects directly to Avengers: Doomsday. It is rumored to be seven minutes longer than the original.
Here’s the official synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday:
“Universes collide, and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.
This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Speaking at the Sands Film Festival, director Joe Russo described the re-release as a “critical companion story” and “a setup for what you’re gonna watch in December when you see Avengers: Doomsday.”
Joe said, “It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame.”
“It’s an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way, and because the movie was so successful, we have an opportunity to re-release it,” he added. “You don’t always get the chance to re-release a movie because it costs money. So the fact that we can enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we worked with for years, that we love so much, and continue their story—it’s a really unique opportunity.”
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron.
The reported cast of Avengers: Doomsday includes Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Lewis Pullman as Sentry. The film also features the return of the X-Men, including Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Joining them are the Fantastic Four: Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing).
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters across the United States on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
