Marvel Studios is currently working on Avengers: Secret Wars. During the San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel announced the release date for Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set to hit theaters in May 7, 2027.
Avengers: Secret Wars is an adaptation of Marvel comics’ Secret Wars and a sequel to The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The film is a part of MCU Phase 6 and the final installment of the Multiverse Saga. The script is penned by Michael Waldron, based on Marvel comics.
Avengers: Secret Wars Release Date
According to Marvel, Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to hit theaters on May 7, 2027. The film will be the final part of MCU’s Multiverse Saga. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about what led him to announce multiple projects in a short time. Feige told the studio is ” in a slightly different rhythm now,” crediting their presence on Disney+ as enabling them to do more projects in fewer years.
“And it felt like we needed to let people know — people used to have that guide point of when an Avengers would come to cap the Phase — it felt like announcing today that the Multiverse Saga and two Avengers films would cap that was something that we needed to share,” he said.
Avengers: Secret Wars Cast
The ‘Avengers: Secret Wars cast has not yet been announced. The casting will be finalized before the end of 2023. The main cast includes The Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, Magneto, Doctor Doom, Absorbing Man, Doctor Octopus, Enchantress, Kang, Klaw, Lizard, Molecule Man, Ultron, the Wrecking Crew, Galactus, and Beyonder.
IGN reported Avengers: Secret Wars could also bring back Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, the cast of 2005’s Fantastic Four, Eric Bana’s Hulk, Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider, Wesley Snipes’ Blade, and any number of other familiar faces.
Avengers: Secret Wars Plot
According to Marvel Comics, Secret Wars has two separate Marvel crossovers. The 1984’s original series is known as Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. The plot follows a cosmic entity called the Beyonder observes the mainstream Marvel universe. Fascinated by the presence of superheroes on Earth and their potential, this entity chooses a group of both heroes and supervillains and teleports characters against their will to “Battleworld”, a planet created by the Beyonder in a distant galaxy. This world has also been stocked with alien weapons and technology.
The heroes include the Avengers (Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Iron Man, the She-Hulk, Thor, the Wasp, and the Hulk), three members of the Fantastic Four (Human Torch, Mister Fantastic, and The Thing), solo heroes (Spider-Man and Spider-Woman) and the mutant team the X-Men (Colossus, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Professor X, Rogue, Storm, Wolverine, and Lockheed the Dragon). Magneto is featured as a hero, but immediately becomes non-aligned when the Avengers question his presence. In 2015, Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars revealed that Deadpool was also a chosen hero, but the Wasp accidentally caused the other characters to forget his involvement.
The villains include the Absorbing Man, Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus, the Enchantress, Kang the Conqueror, Klaw, the Lizard, the Molecule Man, Titania, Ultron, Volcana, and the Wrecking Crew. The cosmic entity Galactus also appears as a villain who immediately becomes a non-aligned entity.
Who Is the Director of Avengers: Secret Wars?
Avengers: Secret Wars director is not yet been announced. Most recently, Marvel announced the director for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing The Kang Dynasty for Marvel.
