Marvel’s Black Panther 3 is now in pre-production, and new updates on the movie’s plotline and some cast updates have been revealed. David Jonsson, who recently announced during SDCC as the new Black Panther, will appear first in Avengers: Secret Wars before appearing in Black Panther 3.
According to Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), the relationship between Wakanda and Talokan is expected to be affected by the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
So, Black Panther 3 will reportedly return to Talokan, the underwater nation introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. A portion of the movie is expected to take place in Talokan. Tenoch Huerta will return as Namor, while Mabel Cadena could return as Namora and Alex Livinalli could reprise his role as Attuma.
Marvel has reportedly started casting extras for both Wakanda and Talokan. The movie could further explore the uneasy alliance between Wakanda and Talokan.
The insider added, “Namor may be forced to bend the knee once again, but this time toward another ruler in order to save his people.” Namor and Shuri’s complicated relationship will also be part of the story.
Also, Angela Bassett could return as Queen Ramonda. Ramonda’s potential return could be connected to the Ancestral Plane, where she will have a larger role in Black Panther 3.
Storm Could Make Her MCU Debut in Black Panther 3 Before X-MEN Reboot
According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, Marvel is planning to introduce Storm in Black Panther 3 before bringing her into the upcoming X-Men reboot. Ryan Coogler is reportedly overseeing the casting, with Marvel looking to play Storm as the second-most-powerful mutant after Jean Grey and explore her full potential.
At the Marvel SDCC panel, Coogler confirmed that Jonsson will play the grown-up son of T’Challa, the character originally portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman. The film also stars Letitia Wright (Shuri) and Winston Duke (M’Baku).
The film will focus on the next generation of Wakanda as T’Challa’s son comes of age and takes on the mantle of Black Panther.
Black Panther 3 is scheduled to be released exclusively in theaters on December 15, 2028.
