Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World had its world premiere in Los Angeles on February 11, 2025. The first reactions to the film have also dropped from various critics and fans. The film received a mixed response and has been described as a “good political thriller in the MCU.”

According to X user @blurayangel—who watched the movie—Captain America: Brave New World brings back the good political thriller in the MCU. It doesn’t soar as high as their best, but Mackie earns the title—giving us someone to aspire to. Harrison Ford brings emotional depth to Ross/Red Hulk! Editing feels choppy, reworked, and rushed.

According to X user @3CFilmss, Captain America: Brave New World is an enjoyable watch with decent action sequences and some standout moments. However, it didn’t quite hit the emotional or narrative highs they were hoping for. Mackie shines as Cap, and the more serious tone is appreciated—but the film still feels slightly empty.

According to X user @jonesvibesonly, Captain America: Brave New World made me feel like I was watching the MCU again—and that’s a good thing. It’s gritty, intense, and packed with Winter Soldier vibes. It’s not without its flaws—feeling a bit disjointed at times—but Anthony Mackie owns the shield, and Red Hulk is a beast. A strong start to a huge year for Marvel.

According to X user @GillianBlum, Captain America: Brave New World is dynamic and engaging, featuring tight writing, a strong cast, and some of the MCU’s best action sequences. It’s grounded in hard truths without sacrificing that classic Cap optimism. Esposito and Ramirez shine, but Mackie’s infectious empathy is the true MVP.

Directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton. Here’s the plot details for Captain America: Brave New World:

In Captain America: Brave New World, after executing a successful mission in Mexico, Sam (Mackie) and his partner Joaquin/Falcon (Ramirez) are invited to the White House to meet with President Ross (Ford). He asks Sam, the new Captain America, to reconstitute the Avengers Initiative. However, they almost immediately square off on opposite sides when an assassination attempt occurs.
