The release date for Carrie Cracknell‘s adaptation of Jane Austen‘s “Persuasion” has been revealed. The film is scheduled to release in the United States on July 8, 2022, before its streaming release on Netflix on July 15, 2022.
“Persuasion” follows the life of Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson), a woman who has lived with regret for many years after being persuaded to break off her engagement with Captain Wentworth due to societal pressures. Years later, they meet again and Anne must navigate her feelings for him while also dealing with the consequences of her past decisions.
The film adaptation by Carrie Cracknell is said to be a modern and fresh take on the classic story, with a focus on the emotional depth of the characters and their relationships. The adaptation is also said to explore themes of class, gender, and social mobility, which are relevant to contemporary society.
In addition to Johnson and Henry Golding, the film also features a talented ensemble cast, including Cosmo Jarvis, Suki Waterhouse, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Richard E. Grant.
