Charli XCX and Leo Birenberg team up to compose the score for Emma Seligman‘s ‘Bottoms,’ starring Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri. Charli XCX’s “Trophy” was featured in the film’s first trailer. Watch it below.
According to the film’s plot:
Bottoms, a refreshingly unique raunchy comedy, focuses on two girls, PJ (Rachel Sennott) and Josie (Ayo Edebiri), who start a fight club as a way to lose their virginities to cheerleaders. Their bizarre plan works. The fight club gains traction, and soon the most popular girls in school are beating each other up in the name of self-defense. But PJ and Josie find themselves in over their heads and in need of a way out before their plan is exposed.
The film is directed by Emma Seligman and co-written by Rachel Sennott. The film also stars Havana Rose Liu as Isabel, Kaia Gerber as Brittany, Nicholas Galitzine as Jeff, Dagmara Domińczyk, Marshawn Lynch as Mr. G, Ruby Cruz as Hazel, Miles Fowler as Tim, Punkie Johnson, Lacey Dover as Cheerleader. Alyssa Matthews as Fight Club, Krystal Chambers as Fight Club Girl, and Summer Joy Campbell as Sylvie.
Bottoms is set for a limited theatrical release in the United States on August 25, 2023, by Orion Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It will expand to more theaters on September 1, 2023.
