Chris Hemsworth will return as Thor, the God of Thunder, in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
Following the start of production on Avengers: Doomsday in London, Hemsworth has joined the filming. On Instagram, stunt artist Bobby Holland Hanton shared an image of Hemsworth with his stunt double, trainer, and hair stylist on the set of Doomsday. See the image below.
In the image, it is seen that Hemsworth is back with his Avengers: Infinity War hairstyle. It is not yet sure whether during the makeup session he will wear long hair for Thor or not.
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator, Stephen McFeely. Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) will be the cinematographer.
According to Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont, who recently spoke at a panel during the Huntsville Pop Culture Expo 2025, the upcoming Avengers films will feature the return of Psylocke, Wolverine killing someone important, Elizabeth Olsen portraying a “good” Scarlet Witch, Robert Downey Jr. playing multiple characters including Iron Man, and Chris Evans returning as multiple characters, including an evil version of Captain America.
Most recently, a mystery actor was spotted on set while filming Avengers: Doomsday. Footage shows an actor entering a house, with their face not visible.
In Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU will begin its end. Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing), and Lewis Pullman as Sentry.
According to Marvel President Kevin Feige, the full cast for Avengers: Doomsday has not yet been revealed. He also confirmed that the film will focus on the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and the original X-Men all fighting Doctor Doom.
