Christopher Nolan and Robert Downey Jr. will reunite for another movie.
According to insider Daniel Richtman in his new Patreon post, Nolan is reportedly already planning his next film after The Odyssey and wants Downey Jr. to play a major role in it.
Nolan wanted Downey Jr. to star in The Odyssey, but his casting in Avengers: Doomsday could cause scheduling conflicts.
Downey Jr. starred as Lewis Strauss in Nolan’s Oppenheimer in 2023. The biographical film is about the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons during World War II. It starred Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer. The film won seven awards at the 96th Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actor (Downey) and Best Director (Nolan).
The upcoming movie from Nolan is an adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. The film is described as a mythic action epic that follows the tale of Odysseus and his 10-year journey home after the Trojan War. It stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson.
Filming will begin in early 2025. Nolan will produce the film alongside his producing partner and wife, Emma Thomas, under their Syncopy banner.
The Odyssey will hit theaters on July 17, 2026, and will be distributed by Universal Pictures.
