Christopher Nolan‘s ‘Oppenheimer‘ returns to IMAX theaters for an additional week, just $54 million away from the $1 billion milestone.
‘Oppenheimer’ is back on IMAX this Friday at select theaters. This comes during a quiet box office weekend, with ‘The Marvels‘ set to dominate screens when it releases on November 10, 2023.

‘Oppenheimer’ was released in theaters on July 21, 2023, and became a huge success, grossing over $942 million worldwide. It claimed the third-highest-grossing film of the year, the top-grossing World War II-related film, the highest-grossing biographical film, and the second-highest-grossing R-rated film.
From Christopher Nolan, ‘Oppenheimer’ tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy), a brilliant theoretical physicist who was appointed as the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory during World War II, and Oppenheimer’s journey as he works tirelessly to develop the atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project, a top-secret government initiative. He works closely with Leslie Groves (played by Matt Damon), a military leader tasked with overseeing the project, and faces opposition from scientists who question the morality of creating such a destructive weapon.
