Colman Domingo is being considered for the role of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, following the departure of Jonathan Majors, as confirmed by insider @DanielRPK.
Who Will be the New Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
According to Marvel Studios, Domingo is ready to play Kang in the MCU, a top choice for the multiverse villain. Marvel couldn’t replace Kang without a clear reason. Now, with The Beyonder confirmed as the main villain in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ they have a solid justification for considering a recast of Kang the Conqueror.
Domingo has been featured in notable projects, such as ‘Selma‘ (2014), ‘The Birth of a Nation‘ (2016), and ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom‘ (2020). He’s recognized for playing Victor Strand in the AMC series ‘Fear the Walking Dead‘ and gained acclaim for his role in the Netflix movie ‘Rustin,’ earning him a Golden Globe Award. Domingo also won a Primetime Emmy Award for a guest role on HBO’s ‘Euphoria.’ Currently, he appears in the musical film ‘The Color Purple‘ and provided voiceovers for the recently released films ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts‘ and ‘Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.’
The filming for ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘ will begin in late 2024. According to reports, the film is now being called Avengers 5. Marvel is rebooting the entire script following the termination of Majors, shifting the focus to a new villain-centric film.
‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ follows the events of previous movies like The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and the second season of Loki. This film is the 42nd in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and belongs to Phase Six. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
