Director Rian Johnson has shared the first look image of Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc in Netflix’s “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” and announced that filming has begun. When you’re looking at the image, pay close attention, because Craig looks so unrecognizable. See the image below.
On the X platform, Johnson shared Craig’s new look for the film and wrote, “Aaaaand we’re off! Today is day 1 of shooting on the next Benoit Blanc mystery ‘Wake Up Dead Man’—see you on the other side.”
Just after posting the image, it was widely noted that the look is quite fantastic for Benoit Blanc. Craig now sports long hair, and yes, he is a blonde Blanc. I’m looking forward to seeing the conclusion of the Benoit Blanc trilogy.
The film has a huge cast alongside Craig, including Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Mila Kunis, Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
Johnson, who directed the first two films, will return to direct Wake Up Dead Man. In the announcement statement, Johnson said, “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.” Johnson added, “We’re about to go into production on the third one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”
Produced by Johnson and his partner, Ram Bergman, through T-Street Pictures and will be distributed by Netflix.
“Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” will premiere on Netflix in 2025. No exact release date has been scheduled yet.
