Director Andy Muschietti has revealed that DC’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold movie has been delayed slightly.
During the California Secreta podcast, Muschietti says that the ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’ movie is not happening for a while, so he might work on another film beforehand.
Muschietti said, “The Batman [The Brave and the Bold] project has been postponed a little bit, so I might do another film before that.”
Muschietti says he wants to watch Superman as soon as possible (having not seen it yet), spoke with James Gunn about it before filming began, and regarding the overall vision for DC, he believes Gunn aims to bring his sensitivity to the project, adding that if you’ve seen Guardians of the Galaxy, Slither, and The Suicide Squad, you already know what to expect, while also describing Gunn as “simpatico” (nice/likable) and at his creative peak.
In DC Comics, Batman: The Brave and the Bold is about Batman and his biological son, Damian Wayne, based on Grant Morrison’s acclaimed comic book run. Damian Wayne is my favorite Robin—he’s a little assassin whom Batman tries to bring in line with his values. This story focuses on their relationship and the beginning of the Bat Family in the DCU.
On X, Gunn stated that Batman: The Brave and the Bold will feature his favorite iteration of Robin, Damian Wayne. In the announcement (via Digital Spy), he described the character as “a little son of a bitch.” The film will also serve as the “introduction of the DCU Batman,” which we presume means a very different Batman from the one Pattinson has portrayed. The film is also reported to be inspired by Grant Morrison’s run on Batman comics, in which Batman discovers a son he never knew he had.
The film is produced by Barbara Muschietti, Gunn, and Peter Safran.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold release date is TBA.
