Francis Lawrence confirms ‘Constantine 2‘ is on track with no delays. Pre-production, led by screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, kicks off after Thanksgiving.
After a few years of planning and an announcement by Warner Bros. Discovery, the ‘Constantine’ sequel is now moving forward. Director Francis Lawrence confirmed his full focus on the project, mentioning, “Probably going to start getting back together after Thanksgiving, and dig back in to try and crack it.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence revealed his now-turning to developing ‘Constantine 2’ with Keanu Reeves and screenwriter Goldsman.
Lawrence said, “The regime at DC changed, and they’ve got their plans. But luckily, we managed to wrangle some control and started working on some ideas for Constantine 2, which we’re really excited about.” Lawrence added, “It’s still the very beginning, as the strike put it on hold for a little bit. So we’re probably going to start getting back together after Thanksgiving, and dig back in to try and crack it.”
Lawrence previously confirmed that ‘Constantine 2’ will be an R-rated sequel. He said, “The idea is this time, at least for me, to really go at it and make a real R-rated Constantine, which is, I think, what people always wanted originally, not the PG-13 version that just happens to get an R.”
John Constantine is a character based on DC Comics. Created by Alan Moore, Stephen R. Bissette, Rick Veitch, and John Totleben. Constantine was portrayed by Matt Ryan in the NBC series Constantine (2014–15), who later reprised the character in the Arrowverse series Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow and several animated productions.
‘Constantine 2‘ release date is TBA.
