A new report has revealed that a new Descendants trilogy is in development at Disney+, focusing on Tatum Rogers (daughter of Tiana), Fraiser Rider (son of Flynn Rider), Maeve (daughter of Merida), and Harmony and Harvey (daughter and son of Hercules).
According to scooper MyTimeToShineH, the new Descendants trilogy will follow Tiana’s daughter, Tatum, as she navigates life at Auradon Prep and meets Flynn Rider’s son, Fraiser.
The two are set to be love interests throughout the films. Notably, Fraiser’s mother is not Rapunzel, creating a twist that makes him a mix of both VK (Villain Kid) and AK (Auradon Kid).
Rounding out the main group are Maeve (daughter of Merida) and the children of Hercules, Harmony and Harvey. Also, the characters connected to The Little Mermaid, Frozen, Mulan, Encanto, Maleficent, and Cinderella are also set to be added.
The plot is set to focus on relatives of Anastasia Tremaine, Chernabog, and various other villains, along with their offspring, staging a successful revolution in Auradon. It will be up to this new group of heroes to stop them.
As of now, the script is in development, with Kenny Ortega in talks to return as director.
Descendants is a Disney Channel movie series created by Kenny Ortega that follows the teenage children of famous Disney heroes and villains. The first film, Descendants (2015), tells the story of Mal (Maleficent’s daughter), Evie (the Evil Queen’s daughter), Carlos (Cruella’s son), and Jay (Jafar’s son), who are invited to Auradon Prep, a school for the children of heroes, and must decide whether to follow in their villain parents’ footsteps or make their own choices.
Following the original film, Descendants 2 was released in 2017, in which Mal struggles to fit into Auradon’s “perfect” society and returns to the Isle of the Lost, where she meets Uma, Ursula’s daughter, who becomes a major antagonist.
Descendants 3 (2019) follows the Villain Kids as they prepare for new students from the Isle while facing a new threat from Hades and Audrey (Aurora’s daughter), who temporarily turns villainous. The latest installment, Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024), introduces new characters such as Red, the Queen of Hearts’ daughter, and Chloe, Cinderella’s daughter, further expanding the story of love, friendship, and legacy.
All Descendants movies are now available on Disney+.
