Superior Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr., could be the 7th member of the Illuminati in Secret Wars, following the Scarlet Witch and the Avengers, when the invasion between Universes 616 and 838 happens during the events of Multiverse of Madness.
Following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Earth-838’s Iron Man (Downey Jr.) will have a “bone to pick” with Doctor Strange and Wanda. This might have been explored during the Kang Dynasty during an invasion between Universes 616 and 838.
Robert Downey Jr. Will Return As Earth-838’s Iron Man In Avengers: Secret Wars
According to Alex Perez of the Cosmic Circus Multiverse Podcast, there will be an invasion between universes 616 and 838 in Avengers: Secret Wars. An Illuminati member from 838, Alex claims to know the identity of the character and then reveals that it is the Iron Man version, played by Robert Downey Jr. himself.
Superior Iron Man was initially planned to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and scenes with Scarlet Witch were also shot. The Iron Man scenes were later cut from the film. It was extremely disappointing for those who expected to see Iron Man in Multiverse of Madness.
According to Comic Book Movie, Avengers: Secret Wars might be split into two parts, similar to Infinity War and Endgame. Avengers: Secret Wars Part 1 will be released in 2026, followed by Part 2 in 2027. Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, was the only confirmed cast member as of yet.
