The star of Marvel’s upcoming ‘The Fantastic Four‘ reboot has shared exciting updates about the film.
Marvel’s Choice: Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing with Motion-Capture Technology
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ebon Moss-Bachrach dropped some major news, disclosing his casting as Ben Grimm/The Thing for Marvel Studios‘ upcoming reboot. He also spilled the beans on Marvel’s plan to utilize motion-capture technology for the character instead of practical effects and even mentioned Yancy Street.
Moss-Bachrach revealed that he learned of Marvel Studios’ offer for the role of The Thing in early August 2023, amid the Writers and Actors strike. He added that he had already read the script and shared that Pedro Pascal created a group chat with the cast members of ‘The Fantastic Four’.
Marvel recently revealed the F4 cast lineup: Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as The Human Torch.
Directed by Matt Shakman, the original script for ‘Fantastic Four,’ written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, is undergoing a rewrite by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, which is expected to be finished in a month or two. The filming start date for ‘Fantastic Four’ is now set for Q3 2024.
In Fantastic Four, Galactus is confirmed as the main villain, and Antonio Banderas was offered the role a few months ago, but now Javier Bardem is reportedly being eyed. Marvel is currently trying to figure out Bardem’s schedule due to his involvement with a different film.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Grant Curtis, and Nick Pepin.
‘Fantastic Four’ will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
