Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) is set to star in Sophie Hyde‘s ‘An Ideal Wife’. Hyde was best known for her previous directional debut ‘Good Luck to You, Leo Grande’. According to Deadline, The film tells the story of Oscar Wilde’s marriage to Constance Lloyd, an author and activist, and the sexual awakening she experienced after she find out that Wilde was homosexual.
Directed by Sophie Hyde. In the film, Clarke plays the role of Oscar Wilde’s wife, Constance Lloyd. The film is handled by Embankment Films, who presented it to buyers at AFM this week. According to sources, The UK production and sales company is ready to buy this project.
Constance Lloyd is an Irish author and the wife of Irish playwright Oscar Wilde and the mother of their two sons, Cyril and Vyvyan. Lloyd died in 1898 at the age of 40 while living in exile in Genoa, Italy. Due to Oscar Wilde’s scandal and imprisonment for homosexual acts in 1895, her two sons have kept a distance from her. Lloyd published two books of children’s literature and contributed to newspapers and journals. She was also a campaigner in the progressive dress reform movement.
Sophie Hyde is best known for her directional debuts films 52 Tuesdays (2014), Animals (2019), and Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022).
