The film was released in 3,402 theaters on April 21, 2023. It grossed $10.3 million on its opening day, with $2.5 million coming from Thursday night previews. According to the film’s plot, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped Los Angeles apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.
Evil Dead Rise is written and directed by Lee Cronin. The film stars Lily Sullivan as Beth, Alyssa Sutherland as Ellie, Morgan Davies as Danny, Gabrielle Echols as Bridget, Nell Fisher as Kassie, Richard Crouchley as Caleb, Mirabai Pease as Teresa, Anna-Maree Thomas as Jessica, and Jayden Daniels as Gabriel.
Evil Dead Rise is the fifth film in the Evil Dead franchise, produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell.
