‘Blue Beetle’ is set to earn $30 million in its domestic box office opening weekend, while ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ earned $30.5 million. The film’s budget is $120 million.
‘Blue Beetle’ is directed by Angel Manuel Soto, and stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, Bruna Marquezine as Jenny Kord, Belissa Escobedo as Milagros Reyes, Susan Sarandon as Victoria Kord, and Raoul Trujillo as Conrad Carapax/The Indestructible Man (Watch the first look).
In an interview, Angel Manuel Soto revealed that James Gunn and Peter Safran never altered Blue Beetle’. He said, “I think we were smart right off the bat into making this a stand-alone.”
Reports confirm ‘Blue Beetle’ has two major post-credit scenes. Details remain undisclosed to prevent spoilers but are hinted at being “something bigger.”
According to the film’s plot:
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.
Produced by DC Studios and The Safran Company. It’s the 14th DCEU installment. ‘Blue Beetle’ is scheduled to hit theaters on August 18, 2023.
