Many Spider-Verse villains were originally intended to appear in the film ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,’ but unfortunately, most of these characters were removed from the final version.
Recently, concept artist Jesús Alonso Iglesias shared exclusive scrapped concept art designs of these villains on Twitter (X). Alonso Iglesias wrote, “Let’s forget The Spot for a second (some more development of him is still awaiting to show up and move on to a funnier assignment, this gang of villains that didn’t make it in the movie but gave us all really good moments exploring some personal versions of them Spider-Verse.”
Spider-Verse Film: Scrapped Villains Revealed
1. 8-Ball
- Real Name: Jeff Hagees
- Description: 8-Ball is a criminal with a large, 8-ball-shaped helmet that contains various gadgets and weapons. He is primarily a foe of the Punisher but has crossed paths with Spider-Man as well.
2. Hippo
- Real Name: Morris Walters
- Description: Hippo is a superhuman criminal with a large, enhanced physique resembling that of a hippopotamus. He possesses super strength and durability, making him a formidable adversary.
3. Jackal
- Real Name: Miles Warren
- Description: The Jackal is a geneticist obsessed with cloning and has created many clones of Spider-Man, including the infamous Gwen Stacy clone. His actions often lead to complex and chaotic storylines involving clones.
4. Hobgoblin
- Various individuals have taken up the mantle of the Hobgoblin. The most well-known Hobgoblin is Roderick Kingsley.
- Description: The Hobgoblin is a supervillain with a goblin-like appearance. He uses advanced weaponry, including a glider and pumpkin bombs, similar to the Green Goblin.
5. Human Fly
- Real Name: Richard Deacon
- Description: Human Fly is a criminal with a mechanical suit that grants him the ability to fly and various weapons. He is known for his clashes with Spider-Man and other superheroes.
6. Screwball
- Real Name: Shelby Dunham
- Description: Screwball is a social media-obsessed criminal who uses technology and gadgets to livestream her crimes. She is a relatively new addition to Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery.
7. Hypno-Hustler
- Real Name: Antoine Delsoin
- Description: Hypno-Hustler is a musician and supervillain who uses music and hypnotic devices to control his victims. He is a relatively obscure character in the Spider-Man comics.
8. Puma
- Real Name: Thomas Fireheart
- Description: Puma is a Native American character with enhanced strength, speed, agility, and senses. He has the ability to transform into a puma-like creature. While he has occasionally clashed with Spider-Man, he’s also been portrayed as an antihero.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and is set in a shared multiverse of alternate universes called the “Spider-Verse“.
