Exclusive: Sebastian Stan and Maria Bakalova are set to play young Donald and Ivana Trump in ‘The Student,’ a film by Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi. The story explores power, ambition, and the origins of an American dynasty, revealing the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers.
The film also stars Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn, and it will be written by Gabriel Sherman, the author behind ‘The Loudest Voice in the Room.’

In 2023, Stan earned nominations for his role as Tommy Lee in Hulu’s ‘Pam & Tommy.’ He’s well-known for playing Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently seen in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.’ Upcoming, he’ll star in ‘Thunderbolts‘ in 2025. Stan also portrayed Vlad Tenev in the GameStop stock movie ‘Dumb Money‘ and had roles in ‘Ghosted,’ ‘Sharper,’ ‘Bupkis,’ ‘Fresh,’ and ‘The 355.’
Abbasi, recognized for ‘Holy Spider,’ Denmark’s entry at the Oscars, directed the movie. ‘Holy Spider,’ focused on a journalist investigating a serial killer in Iran, competed at the Cannes Film Festival, and earned Zar Amir Ebrahimi the best actress award. Abbasi also directed two episodes of HBO’s ‘The Last of Us.’
