‘Extraction 2’ Begins Theatrical Release with Strong Early Reviews and 86% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes
‘Extraction 2,’ has begun its theatrical release in select theaters. Early reviews indicate a promising start, as the movie has opened with an impressive 86% audience score on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
A viewer at the Bay Theater in Los Angeles described ‘Extraction 2’ as “absolutely amazing” with non-stop action, but noted it’s not for the faint of heart. “Just saw it at the bay theater in LA. Absolutely amazing. Non-stop action. Not for the faint of heart though.“
There are also some strange reviews for the film. A user wrote, “Lyle Lyle Crocodile’s arc in this movie felt rushed and wasted. I hated what they did with making cocaine bear the villain.”

After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
Extraction 2, directed by Sam Hargrave and written by Joe Russo, is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Fernando León González, and Eric Skillman. It serves as a sequel to the 2020 film and features returning actors Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa, as well as new additions Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili, and Idris Elba. According to director Sam Hargrave, ‘Extraction 3’ is currently in development. Hargrave says that if the film receives a positive response from fans, Netflix will give the green light for a third installment in the series. Hargrave said, “We’re kind of waiting to see how the second movie is received.” He added, “Fingers crossed, if people enjoy the second one, there already is — and this is without spoiling anything — but there is a story in development for a third movie in the works. What it is exactly, I can’t say right now, but I believe there is another adventure in the wind for Tyler Rake.”
‘Extraction 2’ will premiere on Netflix on June 16, 2023.
