Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first look of Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn in Christy Hall’s ‘Daddio‘. The film is rated R for language throughout, sexual material, and brief graphic nudity. The film also stars Daisy Ridley and Marcos A. Gonzalez. Check out the first-look image below.
Speaking to EW, Hall said, “Johnson brings a remarkable complexity to her character, skillfully excavating profound depths in ways that took this role to places well beyond what I had imagined.” Hall added, “From start to finish, you truly cannot divert your gaze. She embodies a character who is confident yet vulnerable. She seamlessly balances between being sexy and foul-mouthed while still maintaining an innocent softness. She also has this cheeky curiosity and a playful grace that permit this conversation to unfold because her character isn’t afraid of the colorful personalities that roam the city of New York.”
What is the Plot of Daddio?
‘Daddio’ follows a young woman (Johnson), who, after landing at JFK airport in New York City, jumps into the backseat of a yellow taxi. The cabbie, Clark, throws the vehicle into drive, and the two head out into the night, striking up the most unexpected conversation. What begins as amusing chitchat quickly takes a turn towards mysterious and playful, then grows into viscerally honest revelations about relationships, sex and power dynamics, loss, and vulnerability. This contained yet kinetic drama explores the complexities of human connection and proves that a chance encounter with a total stranger can change a person’s life.
Johnson, along with Ro Donnelly, is producing the film through their company, TeaTime Pictures, while Emma Tillinger Koskoff is also attached as a producer. Hall will also produce the movie.
‘Daddio’ will premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
