First Look at John Cena on the Set of ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 in Georgia

Max’s ‘Peacemaker‘ Season 2 is now filming in Paulding County, Dallas, Georgia. Road closures have been issued, but local businesses will remain open. We have the first look images of John Cena — who returns as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker — during the filming of season 2. Photojournalist Jim Zorn has some images and footage from the set location. You can see them below.

Cena’s look, as usual, is as cool as Peacemaker. The show is set in the DC Universe (DCU) and serves as a “soft reboot” of the series, which originated as a spin-off from the 2021 DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film—The Suicide Squad. It is produced by DC Studios with James Gunn as the showrunner.

On Threads, Gunn said, “[Peacemaker] Season 2 is fully part of the DC Universe, not the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).”

In Gunn’s DCU, a spin-off series featuring Amanda Waller titled ‘Waller‘ was revealed to be in development. It is expected to begin filming this year.

In an interview with Variety, Gunn discusses his overall vision for the Peacemaker character and his journey.

Gunn said, “The most important thing for me in the first season was who Peacemaker was and where was he going.” Gunn added, “What was his personal journey? The Butterflies and the plot and all of that is secondary to who he was as a character and what his changes were, as well as the other characters and where they began and where they end, because they all have little changes for themselves — with the exception of Vigilante, who’s sort of a straight line the whole time. So I know where Peacemaker starts and where he ends, but I’m playing with other ideas around that and how that’s gonna play out.”
