The first trailer for Gareth Edwards‘ Jurassic World: Rebirth is set to drop tomorrow. Ahead of its release, Vanity Fair has revealed the first-look images of the Tyrannosaurus, three Spinosaurus, and Mosasaurus from the movie. You can check out the images below.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, producer Frank Marshall said that every dinosaur on the new island in Jurassic World: Rebirth will have a unique look. He explained, “These are the dinosaurs that didn’t work. There are some mutations in there.” Marshall added, “They’re all based on real dinosaur research, but they look a little different.”
The story follows members of a recovery team—led by Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey—as they venture to an island near the equator that once housed the first Jurassic Park‘s research lab. The team is on a mission to retrieve genetic material that could lead to a groundbreaking medical discovery for humanity. However, three decades later, the mistakes made at that ruined facility have not disappeared—they’ve endured and only grown bigger.
According to Marshall, Jurassic World: Rebirth will feature a callback to Jurassic Park with the iconic banner scene. This time, the banner falls again as the public loses interest in dinosaur exhibits. “Well, the banner’s coming down again,” Marshall says. “Jonathan Bailey plays a scientist at a museum that’s closing its dinosaur exhibit.”
Directed by Edwards from a script by Jurassic Park‘s original screenwriter, David Koepp, Jurassic World: Rebirth is based on characters created by Michael Crichton.
Here’s the plot details for Jurassic World: Rebirth:
Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
In the film, Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.
The film also stars Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty), and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez) as Reuben’s family. The film also features, as members of Zora and Krebs’ crews, Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
The film is produced by Oscar nominee Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, both longtime Jurassic franchise producers and of this summer’s blockbuster, Twisters. The film is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart, and Jim Spencer.
Jurassic World: Rebirth will hit theaters on July 2, 2025, by Universal Pictures.
