James Gunn’s ‘Superman‘ has begun the second filming schedule in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, with the cast including David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, who play Superman and Lois Lane. The set features extensive action sequences in Metropolis, near the Daily Planet, with scenes involving the army and significant building destruction. See the images below.
Also, the set includes Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe. While some fans are excited about the film’s cast, others are not happy with the new Superman suit, feeling it does not suit Corenswet. Some praise the suit’s classic comic-book accuracy, while others criticize its design elements and call for the return of Superman’s trunks.
The film stars Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
Gunn confirmed that he respects old Superman movies and that the script he made was definitely a sincere superhero movie. The film will be the DC Universe’s first film and the third installment of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, created by Gunn and Peter Safran. We already reported that the film is being shot entirely in IMAX.
The updated logline for ‘Superman’ reveals that Superman, now a cub reporter in Metropolis, sets out on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.
‘Superman’ is scheduled to theaters on July 11, 2025.
