Gal Gadot Turns Down Titular Role in 'Barbie' Film Due to Scheduling Conflict

Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie‘s initial pick was Gal Gadot, but she declined the title role due to a scheduling conflict, even though Margot Robbie, the producer, and eventual star, was keen on having her.

Gadot had to say no to a role in the new Barbie movie due to other filming commitments. Robbie, who’s producing and starring in the film, wanted Gadot for the lead role. Gadot thinks highly of Robbie, calling her funny, warm, and talented. They discussed Robbie’s comments recently, and Gadot was touched by her words. She’s excited about Robbie and the Barbie movie.

In an interview with Flaunt Magazine, Gadot said, “I adore Margot.” Gadot added, “Margot is one of those women who you just want to be friends with,” she continues, saying she saw her “the other week,” where they spoke about Robbie’s comments. “She is so funny, warm, fun and smart and obviously so talented. She brings so much to the table. I would love to do anything with Margot, and was very touched [by her comments]. She warmed my heart with everything that she said about me. I’m super excited for them, and I’m so excited for Barbie.”
