Marvel Studios is actively searching for a director for ‘Thor 5‘ following Taika Waititi’s departure, as previously reported.
‘The Creator‘ director Gareth Edwards is interested in directing the fifth installment in the Thor franchise. Speaking with BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast, Edwards, asked about directing ‘Thor 5,’ said, “I never say never. In the right circumstances, absolutely.”
Edwards said, “I saw those rumors too. I saw it, and I jokingly sent it to my girlfriend. I just texted her the link and said, ‘I didn’t want you to find out this way.'” Edwards added, “I’ve never heard anything about it. It’s totally… the internet is an incredible place.”
If production begins in late 2024, we can expect a release in 2026 for ‘Thor 5.’ This movie will be part of Marvel Phase 7 and is expected to be released before ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ Marvel is set to resume production on major projects like ‘Deadpool 3,’ ‘Blade,’ and ‘Fantastic Four‘ in January 2024.
In Thor 5, Chris Hemsworth will return as Thor, Brett Goldstein as Hercules, India Rose Hemsworth as Love, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Waititi as Korg, Russell Crowe as Zeus, Carly Rees as Miek, and Kat Dennings as Doctor Darcy Lewis.
