George Miller has confirmed that he has written a new ‘Mad Max‘ prequel movie set one year before ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘.

According to Miller, the story he has written for Mad Max needs to be turned into a screenplay for a film, hopefully soon. We all know that Max is haunted by visions that are breaking him down. At the end of Fury Road, Max was left wandering somewhere, his fate unknown.

What’s the New Movie in the Mad Max franchise?

Miller said, “In doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Fury Road, we also wrote what happened to Max in the year before we encounter him in [that film].” Miller added, “And as we get towards the end of this movie, the chronology… Basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking around somewhere because we do know what happened. The writers know what happened to Mad Max in that year before, and we have a whole story of that, which I would like to do sometime if I get the chance.”

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ was released in 2015. The film follows Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) as he joins forces with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) against cult leader Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) and his army, leading to a lengthy road battle. It grossed $380.4 million worldwide and earned ten Oscar nominations at the 88th Academy Awards, winning six, alongside numerous other honors.

The new film in the Mad Max franchise, ‘Furiosa’, was set to hit theaters on May 24, 2024. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa and Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus. “Snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers, young Furiosa falls into the hands of a great biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel, presided over by Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa soon finds herself in a nonstop battle to make her way home.”

Currently, there is no update from the studio regarding the new ‘Mad Max’ prequel movie. Stay tuned to Maxblizz for further updates.
