Here’s the synopsis for Gladiator 2:
From legendary director Ridley Scott, ‘Gladiator II’ continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Scott said, “As Gladiator II begins, Mescal’s Lucius has a wife and child and lives a relatively peaceful life with them until conquerors from his homeland begin to encroach. He’s taken root in a seacoast town in Numidia. He’s a blue-eyed, fair-skinned man with red hair, and he couldn’t be more different from the inhabitants. It’s one of the last surviving civilizations, as the Romans begin to descend into North Africa and take it all over.”
The film is produced by Scott, Michael Pruss, Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher, and David Franzoni, with production companies including Scott Free Productions and Red Wagon Entertainment.
‘Gladiator 2’ will hit theaters on November 22, 2024, by Paramount Pictures in the United States and Universal Pictures internationally.
