Marvel Studios is still hiding one of the main secret cast members in Avengers: Doomsday, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, who appears as Boris, the right-hand wizard of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Why should Doctor Strange hide his identity from the Earth-616 heroes? Doomsday will reportedly have an explanation following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where Strange has gone.
According to scooper James Mack on Patreon, a new update for Doomsday reveals that the Final Incursion in Avengers: Doomsday will take place between Earth-616 and Earth-828 (the Fantastic Four universe).
After the battle at the X-Mansion against Doom and the Sentinels, the X-Men universe will be completely destroyed, with the surviving X-Men escaping alongside the Avengers and the Fantastic Four.
There is a scene in which Sorcerer Supreme Wong will create a massive shield around Earth during the Final Incursion.
Doctor Strange and Steve Rogers Will Interact for the First Time in Avengers: Doomsday
In Doomsday, during the third act of the movie, Boris will have a conversation with Steve Rogers at Doom’s Castle. Boris will then remove his mask, revealing himself to be Doctor Strange.
Strange will explain everything that happened following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, including why he chose to help Doom and why the incursions can’t be stopped. This will be the first time Doctor Strange and Steve Rogers have interacted in the MCU.
In a recent interview, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said Avengers: Doomsday is a special film that will allow Marvel Studios to do things it couldn’t do with Avengers: Endgame. Feige teases a literal cosmic collision involving some of the fans’ favorite characters from each universe.
Feige said, “This time we can do some things we couldn’t do with Avengers 4, which is to bring in some of Marvel’s most iconic characters: the biggest being the X-Men, then the Fantastic Four, and of course, Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom.
These characters weren’t even in our ‘toybox’ during the Infinity Saga. Only when we bring these characters back can we tell the grand story of Avengers 5 and Avengers 6, including a literal cosmic collision, with some of your favorite characters in each universe.”

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters across the United States on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
