Insider Daniel Richtman reports Max Parker is in talks to play Baldur, while Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is being considered for Thor in Amazon’s God of War series.

Note: As of now, Amazon has not confirmed any official casting information for the series. It has been reported that they are actively searching for an actor to play Kratos. Some of the names reportedly on the shortlist include Winston Duke, Joe Manganiello, Christopher Judge, Manu Bennett, Jason Momoa, Olivier Richters, and Travis Fimmel.

The official logline reads: “God of War follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”

As reported, Emmy Award–winning director Frederick E.O. Toye (Shōgun, The Boys) will direct the first two episodes of Season 1. The series is currently in pre-production, with filming scheduled to begin in March 2026 in Vancouver, Canada.

Moore serves as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on God of War under his Tall Ship Productions banner. Additional executive producers include Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, Ben McGinnis, and Jeff Ketcham serve as co-executive producers.

The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. Tall Ship is currently under an overall deal with Sony TV.

Season 1 of God of War will consist of 10 episodes and is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2027, with Season 2 already ordered by Amazon.
