‘House of the Dragon‘ Season 2 has completed filming, utilizing pre-existing scripts and a U.K. union contract. With the writers’ strike now resolved, it’s set to premiere in summer 2024.
According to reports, HBO is reportedly considering a Season 3 for ‘House of the Dragon’ after wrapping up Season 2. The writers’ strikes prevented HBO from creating new episodes for ‘The White Lotus,’ ‘Euphoria,’ and ‘The Last of Us.’ In 2024, their priority will be these projects instead of pursuing new developments.
‘House of the Dragon’ is serving as a prequel to ‘Game of Thrones.’ Set about 100 years after the Targaryen Conquest, it follows the events leading to the “Dance of the Dragons” war. The first season premiered in August 2022, and the series has been renewed for a second season by HBO, with Ryan Condal as the showrunner. The series was created by George R. R. Martin and Condal for HBO.
