Ian McKellen accidentally reveals a major spoiler for Avengers: Doomsday, confirming Magneto destroys New Jersey in the upcoming Marvel film.

Ian McKellen, who is returning as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto in the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday, has accidentally revealed an important spoiler during an interview.

In a recent interview with Jake’s Takes, McKellen opened up about his return as Magneto in Avengers: Doomsday. He said, “It was fun working with all those younger actors who were so confident about the parts they played in many other movies.”

McKellen added, “Patrick [Stewart] and I came in as old-timers, but they were very respectful and allowed us to have comfortable seats.”

Spoilers: McKellen accidentally revealed that Magneto destroys New Jersey in Avengers: Doomsday. He said, “Oh, I probably shouldn’t have said that.”

Insider Alex (via The Comics Circus) revealed that Magneto will reportedly destroy New Jersey in the X-Men universe, not Earth-616, in Avengers: Doomsday.

McKellen also praised Robert Downey Jr. in Avengers: Doomsday, saying, “He’s got great talent.”

Speaking to Empire Magazine, director Joe Russo opened up about working with Ian McKellen on Avengers: Doomsday.

Russo said, ‘We made him start every day by saying, “Fly, you fools.”

The third trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, released by Marvel Studios, features Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and James Marsden as Cyclops. It shows a destroyed Xavier’s School, a reunion between Xavier and Magneto, and Cyclops attacking Sentinels.

Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron.

Here’s the plot synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday:

“Doctor Doom has officially arrived on the Marvel Cinematic Universe stage. This villain, a master of cutting-edge science and powerful magic, will unleash a cascading crisis across the multiverse. Marvel’s most iconic actor, Robert Downey Jr., also returns as Doctor Doom!”
