Fans of Ice Age, there is big news for you: Ice Age 6 is officially in development at Disney.
During D23 Brasil on Friday, Disney and 20th Century Animation officially announced Ice Age 6, confirming that the original cast—Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, and Simon Pegg—will return, reprising their roles as Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, and Buck. The release date is set for 2026. Check out the first logo for Ice Age 6 below.
On X, Disney shared an announcement video featuring the cast and wrote, “Just announced at D23 Brasil: Ice Age 6 is now in production! Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg are returning for an all-new big-screen adventure.”
Back in September 2024, Leguizamo revealed during the NPR quiz show that Disney is currently working on Ice Age 6. He said, “I’m so happy to hear that. We’re about to do Ice Age 6.”
The director and plot details for Ice Age 6 have not yet been announced. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2025.
The Ice Age franchise consists of films, short films, TV specials, and a series of video games. The first five films were produced by Blue Sky Studios and distributed by its then-parent company—20th Century Fox (now known as 20th Century Studios). The films include Ice Age (2002), Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), and Ice Age: Collision Course (2016). The franchise has generated $6 billion worldwide—making it one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time. A standalone spin-off film, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, was released exclusively on Disney+ in January 2022—without Blue Sky’s involvement.
A lineup of animated sequels is set to release in 2026:
- Shrek 5
- Toy Story 5
- Ice Age 6
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2
- Paw Patrol: The Movie 3
- The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2
