Insomniac Games experienced a major data leak exceeding 1TB, including confidential roadmaps, contracts, internal slides, and gameplay for upcoming titles. Notably, it includes early gameplay of the new Wolverine game, as well as concept art and plot details.
According to Cyber Daily, Rhysida, a ransomware group, has announced the successful extraction of 1.67 terabytes of data — equivalent to over 1.3 million files — from Sony’s Insomniac Games. The group initially demanded a $2 million ransom. Subsequently, the one-week deadline for Insomniac Games to comply with Rhysida’s demand has passed, and the group has fulfilled its threat by releasing the stolen information.
Cyber Daily released a statement quoting a spokesperson from Rhysida, who stated, “Yes, we knew who we were attacking. We knew that developers making games like this would be an easy target. We were able to get the domain administrator within 20–25 minutes of hacking the network.” The spokesperson mentioned that Sony has initiated an investigation but suggested it would be more effective “in the backyard.” According to the Rhysida spokesperson, the sole motive behind the attack was financial gain.
