Insomniac’s Spider-Man and Wolverine Games takes Place in the Earth-1048 Universe

Insomniac confirms that Spider-Man and Wolverine games share the Earth-1048 universe.

In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, ‘Spider-Man 2‘ game director Bryan Intihar confirms that the game shares the same world as Insomniac’s Wolverine, stating, “They’re all 1048.“

Intihar said, “They’re all 1048,” Intihar said, then added, laughing. “I think I got that right.”

Marvel’s Wolverine game was announced in 2021 with a teaser trailer that promised ‘cutting-edge gameplay’ and an ’emotional story,’ with no confirmed release window.

In an interview with IGN, when asked about the possibility of more teasers for the heavily under-wraps Wolverine game, Bryan Intihar responded, “We wouldn’t be true Marvel fans if we didn’t have discussions like that, but I think for us it was, ‘Hey, working on these games is really hard. They’re really complicated.’ And I think it was just like, ‘Hey, let’s let the Wolverine team cook.’ Let’s let them cook and if something ever happens in the future, great.”

According to Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will explore different locations within New York City besides outer Manhattan, such as Queens. Both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are playable as Spider-Man, with a different set of abilities: Peter Parker now has the Venom suit that gives him abilities that greatly improve his combat prowess and ability to defeat multiple goons at once, while Miles Morales has his unique abilities such as Camouflage invisibility and his venom blast. Also, the bar-based Focus system returns from the first game, meaning Miles’ Bio Electric from his spin-off game is integrated into the L1-based Power Gauge system alongside Peter’s own Power Gauge system.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available on PlayStation 5.
