The battle has begun! Get over here… The first look at Mortal Kombat 2 has been revealed by Entertainment Weekly.
We got a first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, and Hiroyuki Sanada, who appeared in the first film, returning as Scorpion in the sequel. See the images below.

In Mortal Kombat 2, the big tournament has finally begun. In the first movie, the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung (Chin Han) tried to defeat Earth’s champions before the real fight could start. Now, the tournament is here, and the stakes are higher than ever. If Earthrealm loses for the tenth time, Shao Kahn will take over the world.

Speaking to EW, Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat co-creator and head of gaming developer NetherRealm Studios said, “You finally get to see Johnny Cage.” Boon added, “His integration into the Mortal Kombat story and universe is a big part of what this movie explores. He’s a washed-up Hollywood guy thrown into this magical, ultra-violent thing. Karl, his depiction of Johnny Cage is different than our games in some ways. He’s adding his own flare to it, but I think it’ll feel fresh. There’s like a novelty factor in there.”
Directed by Simon McQuoid from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, Mortal Kombat 2 is based on the video game franchise created by John Tobias and Ed Boon. Serving as the sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat‘ the film is also the fourth installment in the Mortal Kombat film series.
The film stars Urban as Johnny Cage, Rudolph as Kitana, Sophia Xu as young Kitana, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Briggs, and Tati Gabrielle as Jade. Lewis Tan returns as Cole Young, alongside Damon Herriman as Quan Chi, Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han / Noob Saibot, and Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion. Ford portrays Shao Kahn, with Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel, Max Huang as Revenant Kung Lao, and CJ Bloomfield as Baraka.
Produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, Todd Garner, Simon McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh, ‘Mortal Kombat 2’ is a production of New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster, and Broken Road Productions.
Mortal Kombat 2 will hit theaters and IMAX on October 24, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
